Ten Political Parties Promise to Pass International Standard Anti-Corruption

Law if Elected

25 June 2008

Ten of the eleven political parties registered to compete in the forthcoming general election declared that if they win the election, they would pass the long-awaited anti-corruption law within the first six-month of the new term of government. They said the Law would have to be of international standard.​The political parties expressed their anti-corruption commitment in their resposes to the letters that were submitted to them earlier this month by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations against Corruption, a group that consists of close to 50 international, national, and local non-governmental organizations.

One of the eleven political parties, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), has not replied to the letter which was addressed and delivered to the Party’s President, Samdech Chea Sim, with a copy delivered to the Party headquarters. However, the Coalition has not received any response by the deadline of 23 June 2008.
